A shiny, new website

Welcome to my new website!

When I went freelance at the start of the year, I wasn't exactly prepared! My profile was non existent after 4 years of working in-house. I became more active on Twitter and started sharing my ideas and reflections again. I needed a better place for this.

I had a personal blog on Squarespace but it was tired and neglected. I spent several weeks pulling old content across to my Medium profile and writing new posts. This was great for a while and I certainly found a new audience. Suddenly things I had written about years ago like The Research Funnel were read and shared and applauded. At the same time, I joined the new Research Ops Slack community and got involved in the work going on there.

Despite being active online, I was deliberately taking some time off from paid research work. I volunteered at my children's school, immersed myself in children's literature and took a few children's writing courses. The break was refreshing and good for my soul. I'm still writing for children but for now that needs to be a hobby.

As I started to think again about paid work, I quickly realised that I needed a place to push people to that wasn't LinkedIn. I needed to tell people what I do and what I can offer. I quickly rehashed the homepage of my blog but it was woefully inadequate and frankly embarrassing! At this point, my designer husband Mark stepped in and offered to create a new site for me at a dusty URL we had bought years ago - emmaboulton.co.uk

So, here it is. It's a starting point and will evolve but for now it's good enough to launch. If you're interested in working with me, please take a look around. If you have any questions and would like to talk further, I'd love to hear from you.
